Background
The Covid-19 pandemic has severely overwhelmed the public healthcare sector in India, forcing a lot of community health institutions to shut down due to a shortage of staff and resources. This has had a grave effect on the health and well being of the people, especially children, who live around these institutions and rely on them for medical care. One such defunct care unit is located in Sanghi Nagar, on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Having served the local community for years, it too had to be shut down due to the pandemic.
When I first learnt of this, I knew that something had to be done in order to revive this crucial institution which was once an inseparable part of the community. Thus, with this ambition in mind, I rejuvenated and revamped the dilapidated structure of the institution and founded CHeCK—a Community Health Clinic for Kids.
